Why not? Websites provide many ways to customize content, especially when you have a lot of it. Instagram can be nice, and so can twitter, but you’re stuck with their format. Of course you can personalize as much as you want out of your profile, but there’s nothing you can do to stand out more. Not that standing out is my goal, but rather there is a constriction to the format in which you present content you produce.
The only other time I’ve made a website was for a school project–an EPortfolio. It was fun being able to organize the content I created over the courses of the quarter, but a there was a rubric that had to be followed. There were rules and regulations.
So, why this website? Because I want to make a website on my own terms. No format instructions, and no requirements of content. This could end up being a disorganized mess of works, or it could be a great way to showcase my work. Whatever it ends up being… it will be completely me.
